September meeting

It's been a while but we did meet in September... and we have the pics to prove it!

Let's start with our banner in its permanent position at Gentler Times.

Then I tried to take some snaps of our fun members...

Svetlana and Faith smiled nicely.

But others studiously ignored me and my camera!

We started show and tell with  the results of our Scrap Challenge. Ruth had a couple of tops to show.

Joan had a little tag blanket.

Kathy seemed to have some big scraps available for her quilts?

Jen B. had a little improv piece.

Nancy L. had a blue and yellow table runner featuring pinwheel blocks,

and an improvised piece

with a vintage fabric backing.

Svetlana had a scrappy pillow cover.

Kimberley had used her South African fabric scraps and made a quilt of huts!

Bert showed us her table runner and wall hanging made with black and white and yellow fabrics.

And that was it for the challenge so we moved into our "general stuff"...

Yvette had been busy making Christmas items.

And one for Halloween!

Pat had her completed hexie bag.

Anita had made two improv pieces inspired by the fields around her home.

Svetlana brought her Pinkie Pie quilt. That's one lucky daughter at her house getting to have that on her bed!

Sharon had been busy with a quilt top and a table runner to show us.

This is Merris (sorry about the spelling?) and her hexagon quilt.

Kimberley had brought a table runner.

And last up was Cheryl with two manipulated pieces she had made for her spot on Quilting Arts TV.

Didn't everyone do well? They had a very productive month!

Last month we had asked for a volunteer to teach us some curved piecing techniques. Joan graciously agreed to come prepared and she had some great tricks to simplify the process. No pins needed!

Thanks Joan! I am looking forward to seeing what people have done with what they learnt...

And that was September. Our next meeting is October 24th, 6.00pm at Gentler Times. Hope to see you  there!
